![]() | The road trip is dying. In this age of rising fuel prices, insurance costs, and vehicle upkeep, I know fewer and fewer people within the city who own vehicles. Urban areas are becoming more populated, public transit is becoming increasingly accessible, and roads and infrastructure are falling by the wayside. Road trip to the cabin!” But, you know, a real road trip: Travelling extensive distances to places that you’ve never been, with people that you don’t fully know, and sleeping on the ground under an unfamiliar sky. Likely a partial result of our generation being completely damned addicted to instant gratification, most of us would rather pay for a flight somewhere than dish out the greater cost for fuel and food that comes with a road trip. To be fair, the road isn’t for everyone – especially not for those with a keen sense of smell or short of patience.
