 | Interview by Robin Pailler Don’t wake up if your falling in a dream. Take flight! – You’ll see what I mean when it happens. Hey Jimmy, first off, can I ask. Where did the idea to build a skateboard teepee come from, how long did it take and how did you come about finding the right location to do it? At first there wasn’t a tee pee in sight when the desire to construct something out of my used skateboards had come to mind. But what was instigated a few years ago, whilst staring at the pile of my used skateboards against a wall one night, was a flash of inspiration – it was of a ten foot high, ten foot wide skateboard sphere in the forest! The boards would feel comfortable there it seemed, a proper, solid, natural environment for a skateboard sphere. Later on I asked my brother Joe, who’s a carpenter, to help me. He agreed to help build the structure, so I now envisioned me slotting the used & snapped decks into it – grip tape seen from the outside, and the graphics seen from the inside – a place I could go to in the woods, enter this [...] |
